Not-so-sneaky Peak

Ok, so it's the same toy from before, but now it's de-blurred. Still just a test shot, not sure what direction we're going in for the first release. We'll have a few at SDCC for sure though, along with kind of a lot of other new stuff.

Sneek peek

Newest sculpt by Sean. Not ready for a full reveal just yet, but I'm super-psyched with how he came out! Tons of potential with this guy.

Debut: VICTIM #2!

Hey New Yorkers (and temporary New Yorkers); MONSTREHERO (us) will be debuting TWO brand new toys at the New York Comicon: VICTIM #2 and and a sneak peak at INTERGALADIATOR!
Victim #2 has two halves that fit together and some yummy guts to fill the void. We'll have various unpaints and maybe a couple one-off paints. We won't have a booth, but we'll be wearing some MONSTRE-brand clothing. If you see us, say hi!

more INTERGALADIATOR

Here are some more INTERGALADIATOR shots. He's sort of been on the back burner for the last month or two while we geared up on other projects. Did some work on him today and I'm pretty psyched. I think he's our most ambitious figure yet, with a removable helmet, removable head/guts, movable arms and interchangeable accessories. If all goes according to plan, of course...

small updates

Just a few quick little updates over here at MONSTREHERO STUDIOS.
--Our little store seemed to have worked out pretty well. We'll most likely keep it in some form for the time being. We still have a few Monochrome Victims and Pantsmonstre one-offs, in case anyone is interested.
---Here are a few shots of a special three-part victim set we did on special commission. Each victim and flame gets progressivly darker. I think they turned out pretty neat.

---And here is a sneak preview of my (sean's) new figure, tenatively titled INTERGALADIATOR. He's a spacey russel crowey type guy who hunts PANTSMONSTRES. He's going to be packed full of surprises, so he should be a pretty awesome little guy when done.

some more Axeface

Here are a few more shots of Axeface. Below is the final prototype, sculpted with Super Sculpey, primed white and sanded furiously. He's about to be clayed up and molded.

Axeface says "hello" from the beach!

Here's a turnaround of a clear grey casting that cliff's gonna paint up into something pretty. The levels are tweaked a bit to show some detail.

A wip shot of axeface's first edition. Green base with blue and yellow spray. They'll each have some distiguising features, and will be limited to three pieces(!). These suckers are biiiig... one Axeface takes 24 oz of resing, whereas one Victim takes 7 (4 oz for the body, 3 for the flame). Thats a pretty huge difference, and has thus expedited our current drought of white resin. Ooof.

Axeface in prison..

Swampgas strikes back...

When good resin goes bad...we try to conserve materials as much as possible and these are the results. These smaller sculpts are really fun to experiment with, and good for trying new techniques and not wasting resin.

And here's a nice group shot of the Swampgas edition Codename: P.A.N.T.s Monstre (thats a pain to spell out..) We still have a few of these guys left.

Swampgas with handprinted header and block print..

Shot of the print itself, two color linocut by Cliff. White and brown ink on green cardstock.

AXEFACE axeface axeface....

I'm pleased to show off MONSTREHERO's newest addition to the ranks: AXEFACE. He's been in the works almost as long as Skullmaster, but has gone through a lot of revisions. I still don't have a final production color scheme decided, but I'm having fun experimenting.
The first figure is a light clear blue resin with blue glow. The second in the foreground is mainly a paint experiment, but should be close to the final color scheme (probably minus the pants). The one in the background is a dark green clear.

new victim #1s

Here we have some early tests for two new Victim #1 Colorways. "Nuclear Winter" is in translucent swirly blue with a blue glow flame with spot paint details. "Unnamed Monochrome edition" has a base of light grey resin and will have sick graytone painted details and a clear grey flame.

Harmony

Next to debut alongside SkullMaster Black Ver., SkullMaster Original! White base with babyblue highlights (that turn up much better in person) and a glossy finish. Almost looks like blue and white chinese porcelain, which would be an excellent idea for a future one-off.
All thats missing for my two badboys are their sweet sweet scarfs, which should arrive in the next week or so. Editions are tentatively at 4 apiece per colorway, of course accounting for some variation with-in the edition as they are painstakingly handmade.

getting closer and closer...

I've been busting hump all weekend trying to get these guys ready for deadline.
Plan is for a double edition of ten total, five in each color scheme. Previewed here is SkullMaster Black Ver., extra shiny (the finished edition probably won't have such a glare...I just get a little impatient with my spraying wait time and tend to go a little overboard).
Next mission: pick out the *perfect* fabric for SkullMaster's signature scarf.

clear resin night!

A new prezzie arrived today; our first batch of clear resin! Now we can add all sorts of junk to our figures like the cool kids do. Here's some pics of the fun we had!
